Picking the Right Gas Volume Meter

If you are in the market for a new gas volume meter in Australia, feel free to stop by our website, at www.rossbrownsales.com.au. Click on the ‘Products & Services’ tab on the left hand side of the screen, and then select ‘Gas Meters’ from dropdown menu. On this page, you can learn everything you need to know about the three main types of gas volume meters that we at Ross Brown Services provide-namely, drum type meters, bellows type meters and MilliGascounters. In the meantime, though, read on to learn the basic differences and defining characteristics of these different types of meters.

Drum type gas meters are known for their versatility and precision. At Ross Brown Services, we always say that these meters are ‘universally applicable’ when it comes to measuring the volume of wet, flowing gases. Thanks to a unique revolving measuring mechanism, drum type gas volume meters are able to get the most precise volume measurements possible-without the composition, condition or state of the gas in question affecting the readings.

Dry or inert gases, meanwhile, can be best measured by bellows type meters. Like drum type gas volume meters, bellows meters provide extremely accurate readings regardless of composition or condition. They are merely used to measure a different type of gas volume than their drum type counterparts.

The MilliGascounter is a specialised volume meter, meant only for situations where a very low gas flow rate needs to be measured. These types of meters are perfect for leak rate detection and a number of other applications. In other words, most of the time, MilliGascounters don’t see the same level of consistency and frequency in use that a drum or bellows type volume gas meter does. However, the MilliGascounter is also designed in such a way that required maintenance is minimal. The battery doesn’t even need frequent replacement, and can last up to three years without a change.
